Chestnut Ridge High School Students' Locally Focused Artwork Unveiled at Bedford County's South Midway Turnpike Service Plaza

Exciting news from Chestnut Ridge School District!

We are proud to announce that a student mural highlighting local areas of interest has been unveiled at the South Midway Turnpike Service Plaza.

This glazed ceramic mosaic was a collaborative effort between around 70 of Mrs. Madelyn Kelley's students and artist Robert Zabrowsky, a retired art teacher. The artwork showcases multiple landmarks and places of interest in the county, with the hope of inspiring visitors to the plaza to explore beyond the turnpike and into the town.

This project marks the 11th installation of the Art Sparks program, which is a collaboration between the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and the state turnpike Commission. The program pairs students in all grade levels with teaching artists to create beautiful works of art. The goal is to have one such work of art in each plaza across the turnpike.

We are thrilled to have been a part of this initiative and to have had the opportunity to showcase our students' artistic talents. Congratulations to all involved!
