HOMELESS CHILDREN AND YOUTH IN PENNSYLVANIA

The goal of Pennsylvania's Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness (ECYEH) is to eliminate barriers that homeless children may face. Under the federal McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Improvement Act, children and youth who qualify as homeless are entitled to a free, appropriate public education. There are a variety of services and resources available to support eligible children and families. For more information, contact the district's homeless liaison listed below.

WHO IS CONSIDERED HOMELESS

Children and youths who lack fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence qualify for services under McKinney-Vento legislation. This includes children and families who may be"doubled up" with others because of eviction, economic hardship, or similar situations or are living in hotels, motels, campgrounds, parks, public spaces, automobiles, or other inadequate circumstances.
