On May 7, 2022, six Chestnut Ridge Middle School 7th-grade students traveled to the University of Scranton to compete in the National History Day competition. The students earned the right after placing at the local competition and the regional competition at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Locally, the process began with all 7th-grade students completing a research paper. Student papers were entered into the local competition, with winners earning the right to participate in the regional competition encompassing Armstrong, Indiana, Jefferson, Clearfield, Cambria, Elk, Westmoreland, and Bedford Counties. Students were able to apply their research to websites, exhibits, and historical papers. State qualifiers from Chestnut Ridge are listed below;
