March 25, 2020
I would like to take this opportunity to offer my sincere gratitude to the many parents, community members, and staff who have reached out to provide their support during this difficult and unprecedented situation. We are currently facing a crisis in education without the benefit of clear and definitive answers due to the fluid nature of the situation. We recently received guidance from the state and federal level that will allow us to put into place a continuity of education plan.
Recently, a technology survey was sent to all members of the Chestnut Ridge community. We have received a tremendous response to the survey in a very short time. For those that have not filled out the survey, please do so as soon as possible. It can be found on the district web page at www.crlions.org.
On Tuesday, March 31, 2020 the Chestnut Ridge School District is scheduled to begin providing voluntary enrichment and review education for our students. Teachers will be communicating with their students via email and classroom learning management systems. For those citing a need for access to technology, we will be reaching out to you in the coming days to arrange for pickup of student devices. We are urging only those that are in absolute need of their school issued device to make these arrangements in order to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
Although we do not have all of the answers, we are providing the most comprehensive information available and will continue to post that for you as it changes. We know that students’ anxiety over the uncertainty of their education and many of the activities for which they are involved continues to grow. We need to work together to support our students. Thank you again for your understanding and patience during these extraordinary times.
Yours in Education,
Dr. Mark J. Kudlawiec
