Educational Foundation
The Chestnut Ridge Educational Foundation (CREF) is a non-profit educational improvement organization dedicated to the advancement of education for ALL ages in the Chestnut Ridge area.
Mission Statement
The Foundation was formed in 1992 for the purpose of enhancing the basic educational programs offered by the Chestnut Ridge School District. Its mission is to enhance and strengthen the education of all individuals and groups within the district by providing funds to help with innovative and responsible educational activities that cannot be funded through traditional avenues.
Membership in CREF
Membership in the Foundation is open to anyone interested in advancing the quality of education at Chestnut Ridge. Members meet four times a year to consider funding requests and the next meeting date can be obtained by calling the high school office at (814-839-4195), extension 3333. Your continued support of our Foundation and its mission is encouraged and is deeply appreciated.
Support for local programs
To fulfill its mission, during the past decade the Foundation has approved funds for:
- Computer Equipment
- Books for Special needs students
- Academic Scholarships
- Tuition reimbursement for high school pupils taking advanced courses at Allegany College of Maryland
We have supported the following programs
- Parent Involvement Program
- Bedford County Literacy Council
- Chestnut Ridge Future Business Leaders of America
- People to People Student Ambassador Program
- Student Foreign Exchange Program
- … And many other educational activities

The Foundation's ability to continue its mission depends on the generous support of individuals and businesses in the Chestnut Ridge School District and the surrounding area.
Residents may contribute directly by sending a donation in any amount to:

Or you may designate CREF to be the recipient of their United Way contribution.
